If you’ve ever wanted to live in a quaint old town redolent with history, the
perfect setting is San Diego’s “Old Town”. Old Town’s 1000+/- residents in zip
code 92110 are proud of the fact that they can call the “Birthplace of California”
home. In 1769, Father Junipero Serra came to establish the very first mission in
a chain of 21 missions that became the cornerstone of California’s colonization.
Father Serra’s mission and Presidio were built on a hillside overlooking what is
currently known as Old Town San Diego. In 1968, Old Town became a state park
— now one of the state’s top cash-generating parks, with 5.5 million visitors a

Even today, life moves more slowly in this part of San Diego, where the hustle
and bustle is balanced with history and fiestas.  Converging cultures
transformed San Diego from a Mexican pueblo to an American settlement.
Today’s visitors and residents enjoy this view into the past that is frozen in time
through the core of restored original historic buildings and early twentieth
century buildings designed in the same mode.  Many homes in this area are
Craftsman bungalows, often with colorful gardens.  Old Town offers an array of
detached single–family homes, cottages, condominiums and apartments ranging
in price from the moderate up to luxurious Spanish Hacienda type estates.

Old Town’s Historic Plaza remains a gathering place for community events and
historic activity.  There are five original adobe buildings and museums, unique
retail shops, and several authentic Mexican restaurants including the Casa de
Reyes, where, if you dare, you can try their infamous $18.95, 62 Ounce
margarita.  Other historic landmarks include La Casa de Estudillo, La Casa de
Bandini, La Casa de Altamirno Pedrorena and the Mason Street School, San
Diego’s first one room schoolhouse. Just up the hill from Old Town San Diego
Historic State Park, is Heritage Park where several of San Diego’s most notable
Victorian homes have been relocated and authentically restored to their
original splendor.

Nearby Bay Park resides on the water's edge with an elevation of about 125
feet, providing magnificent views of San Diego, Sea World, Mission Bay Park
and Fiesta Island. Bay Park real estate, overlooking Mission Bay, began in the
1920s with single-family homes on narrow roads. Bay Park homes built in the
1950s are in abundance and are suited for large cars and family space. Views
are great here! Amongst the Bay Park real estate are churches, restaurants,
parks (including the large Tecolote Canyon) recreation centers and 4 public
schools, which are part of the San Diego City School District. Two colleges, The
University of San Diego, and Mesa College (of the City school district) contribute
culture to these areas, as they provide classes and activities open to the public.
